Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Username — required for everyone, shown publicly in chats, Members and profiles.
• Account details — registered members give an email and password. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Your email is never shown to other users.
• Email verification — we send a one-time code to your email to confirm it. Signing in with Google gives us your verified email address only; we never see your Google password.
• Profile — optional display name, bio and interests, visible to anyone who browses Members.
• Guest sessions — a temporary session cookie tied to your chosen username. Guests have no account, and guest conversations are tied to that session only.
• Age confirmation — we record that you confirmed you are 18 or older, and when.
• Technical data — our servers and hosting provider may process IP addresses for security and rate limiting. We do not show IP addresses to other users.

Chat messages are stored

We store the text of random chats, private messages and Members Room messages on our servers, together with the sender's username, timestamp and conversation. We do not claim chats are private from us or never stored.

Why we store them

Safety and abuse investigations, security incidents, platform reliability, and legal or compliance requirements.

Who can see them

Only the site operator and people the operator authorizes, and only when there is a legitimate reason such as a report, a safety concern, a security incident or a legal request. Staff access to conversations is recorded in an audit log (who, what and when, not message contents). We may disclose data to authorities where the law requires it.

How long we keep them

Messages are deleted automatically after the retention period set by the operator, unless we must preserve them for an investigation or legal obligation. Reports are kept longer.

Your choices

You can log out at any time, which ends a guest session. To ask about, correct or delete your data, contact chattr24support@gmail.com. Deleting an account does not necessarily remove messages already delivered to others or preserved for legal reasons.

Cookies

We use one essential session cookie. Your theme choice is stored in your browser. No advertising cookies.

Children

Chattr is for adults only (18+). If we learn a minor is using it, we may remove their access and data.
